Frankincense & Myrrh: (Rest).

Let’s talk about something the world moves way too fast to even notice anymore…
The Sabbath.
It’s not just a tradition or a day off; it’s a sacred gift. Something set apart by YHWH long before there was culture, religion, or even time the way we understand it. The Sabbath wasn’t man’s idea; it was His. Spoken by YHWH Himself. Written by His own hand.
“And when He had finished speaking with him on Mount Sinai, He gave Moses two tablets of the Witness, tablets of stone, written with the finger of Elohim.” Exodus 31:18
We pour so much of ourselves into the world; our time, our energy, our thoughts, our very bodies. Seven days a week. Nonstop. And yet YHWH only asks for one. One day to rest. One day to come back to Him. One day to remember who we really are in a world constantly trying to turn us into something we were never created to be.
And if the Creator of heaven and earth rested, why do we feel like we’re being faithful by running ourselves into the ground? Why do we confuse being burned out with being obedient? Why do we treat exhaustion like devotion?
“Then Elohim blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because He rested from all His work.” Genesis 2:3
“Stay where you are; don’t leave your place on the seventh day.” Exodus 16:29
The Sabbath isn’t just about not working; it’s about dwelling. About being still. About being home. About being with Him. But how do we dwell when everything around us is so loud? We wake up to notifications. We scroll before we pray. We turn on the noise before we stop to hear His voice. Even when we’re not busy, we’re distracted. Somewhere along the way, rest became a luxury instead of a command.
And all these things pulling at us? They don’t just take our time; they steal our peace. They cloud our focus. And they drown out the still, small voice of YHWH. The voice that brings us back to life.
Even Yahushua (Messiah) honored the Sabbath.
“The Son of Man is Master of the Sabbath.” Mark 2:28
He didn’t come to do away with it; He came to restore its meaning.
“The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.” Mark 2:27
This day was made for us. For our healing. For our mercy. For our rest. Not just so we can sit still; but so we can be made whole again.
“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy…” Exodus 20:8–10
He didn’t say fit it in when you can. He said remember. Because He knew we’d forget. Forget to rest. Forget to trust. Forget that we’re not the source; we’re the vessels.
In a system that idolizes productivity, choosing rest is an act of resistance. In a world that worships hustle, pausing is spiritual warfare. Honoring the Sabbath is saying, “I trust YHWH more than I trust the system. I believe He provides even when I stop striving.” That’s not weakness. That’s faith.
So maybe the real question isn’t, “Can I fit Sabbath into my life?”
Maybe it’s, “Can I survive if I don’t?”
This culture glorifies the grind. It celebrates burnout like it’s a badge of honor. But let’s be real; this isn’t just about working hard. It’s about chasing. Chasing the bag. Chasing validation. Chasing comfort. And still, we’re tired.
“In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat for He gives sleep to those He loves.” Psalm 127:2
“What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul?” Mark 8:36
We weren’t made to go nonstop. We were created with limits; Intentional pauses that keep us aligned with Him. The Sabbath isn’t optional; It's a sign that we belong to Him.
“But you shall remember YHWH your Elohim, for it is He who gives you the ability to produce wealth.” Deuteronomy 8:18
So I ask myself this often, and maybe you should too:
If He is the One who gives us the ability to produce wealth, is what we’re doing truly aligned with Him?
Are we building with His wisdom; or are we just burning ourselves out chasing a version of success that He never ordained?
Because let’s not forget; there are systems built to keep us disobedient. To keep us tired. To shorten our lives while pretending to extend them. How else can they so precisely predict our life expectancy… unless they’re helping shape the disobedience that’s cutting it short?
And that’s exactly what our adversary wants.
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy…” John 10:10
If he can steal your rest, he can keep you empty. If he can keep you tired, he can wear down your marriage, your parenting, your peace, your clarity your purpose. The very things YHWH entrusted you to protect.
Disobedience drains life. But obedience? It multiplies it.
“If you walk in My ways… I will prolong your days.” 1 Kings 3:14
“The blessing of YHWH makes one rich, and He adds no sorrow with it.” Proverbs 10:22
Keeping the Sabbath isn’t about laziness. It’s about alignment.
It’s not about falling behind; it’s about finally catching your breath.
It’s not about religion; it’s about relationship.
It’s me saying:
“I trust YHWH more than I trust my schedule.”
“I’ll rest because He said to.”
“I’ll pause, because His Word has never failed me.”
That’s what inspired our Frankincense and Myrrh Collection. Sacred scents poured with intention; meant to help you pause, worship, and rest. Each one is infused with Olibanum Resinoid (Frankincense) and Myrrh; ancient oils once used in temples and tabernacles, offered before the throne of the Most High.
These aren’t just candles. They’re invitations.
Invitations to breathe.
To slow down.
To make your space a sanctuary.
Let your home become a prayer room.
Let your mind be quiet again.
Let your body and spirit remember that rest isn’t selfish; it’s holy.
Because Sabbath isn’t about doing less.
It’s about becoming whole.
And remembering who you are… and who you belong to.
